INFLUENCE OF FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL ON THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES IN PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KATSINA-ALA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF BENUE STATE

Abstract

This study investigated the influence of fuel subsidy removal on the provision of educational facilities in private secondary schools in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. Two research questions were raised and two hypotheses formulated for the study. The study adopted descriptive and perceptual research design. The population was made up of all the 201 teachers in the private secondary schools. The sample for this study comprised 134 respondents drawn through simple sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled ‘Quality Healthcare Questionnaire, (FSEFQ). The research questions were answered using descriptive statistics of mean score and standard deviation while the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using Chi square test statistics. The study found out that fuel subsidy removal negatively influenced the provision and maintenance of educational facilities in private secondary schools in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. The recommended that the management of private secondary schools should outsource for funds and be prudent in their utilization to facilitate the provision of educational facilities in the face of fuel subsidy removal.
