EFFECTS OF INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA INSTRUCTION ON STUDENTS' ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND RETENTION IN COMPUTER STUDIES IN FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ZARIA
Abstract
This study examined the Effects of Interactive Multimedia Instruction on Students' Academic Achievement and Retention in Computer Studies in Federal College of Education, Zaria. The design of the study was quasi-experimental design. The population of the study consisted of all NCEII Computer Science students in Federal College of Education, Zaria as at 2022/2023 academic session. Computer Science Achievement Test (COSAT) was used as data collection instrument. The instrument was duly validated and has reliability coefficient index of 0.828. The arithmetic mean and standard deviation was used to answer the question posed by the study, while two sample t-test was used to test the null hypothesis at α 0.05 alpha level of significance. The study found that students taught Introduction to Computer Studies using interactive multimedia instruction outperformed those taught using conventional lecture Method. Some recommendations were proffered which include the need for educational Stakeholders in Federal and State Colleges of Education to make provision for effective utilization of blended learning approach in teaching and learning Introduction to Computer Studies. This will assist in incorporating technology in curriculum delivery process.
