THE ROLE OF CURRICULUM EVALUATION AND FEEDBACK IN IMPROVING TEACHING AND LEARNING QUALITY IN NIGERIA
Abstract
This paper examines the importance of curriculum evaluation and feedback in enhancing the quality of education in Nigeria. It argues that curriculum evaluation is a systematic and continuous process of collecting, analyzing and interpreting data on the effectiveness and relevance of the curriculum. The paper discusses the benefits of curriculum evaluation and feedback for improving the alignment of the curriculum with the national goals and standards, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum, enhancing the professional development of teachers and learners, and promoting accountability and transparency in the education system. The paper also identifies some of the challenges and barriers that hinder the effective implementation of curriculum evaluation and feedback in Nigeria, such as inadequate resources, poor coordination, lack of expertise, resistance to change, and cultural factors. The paper concludes by suggesting some recommendations for overcoming these challenges and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in Nigeria through curriculum evaluation and feedback.
