This study examined the strategies adopted by principals in the management of school plant in secondary schools in Enugu State. Two research questions guided the study while two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study comprised 295 principals (203 male and 93 female principals). The sample size was 148 respondents which consisted of 102 male principals and 46 female principals. The instrument for data collection was a researchers’ constructed questionnaire titled “Strategies adopted by Principals in the Management of School Plant Questionnaire (SAPMSPQ). The instrument was validated by three experts in the Faculty of Education, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). The reliability of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha method in which 0.81 was gotten for section A and 0.79 for section B with an overall reliability index of 0.80 which made the instrument reliable. Data analysis was done using mean and standard deviation and hypotheses tested using t-test statistic. The findings of the study revealed that principals adopt supervision and leadership strategies in the management of school plant in secondary schools to great extent. Based on the finding, the researcher recommends that government and the school management should encourage principals to exhibit proper leadership strategies.
