IMPACT OF TEACHERS’ AND STUDENTS’ PARTICIPATION IN DECISION MAKING ON THEIR ATTITUDE TOWARDS SCHOOL WORK IN PUPLIC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KWARA STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract


This study investigated the impact that the involvement of teachers and students in decision making has on their attitude towards school work. A total of 10 public secondary schools were chosen from which 300 students and 150 teachers were drawn to participate in the study. Two research instruments were used for data collection. Students’ t-test was computed to test the research hypotheses formulated for the study at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that the students and teachers were decisional deprived and the level of involvement in participation in decision-making has a significant influence on the student’s and teachers’ attitudes towards school work. Based on the findings it was recommended that the principal should harness the abundant human resources at their disposal by involving them in decision-making process so as to maximize the attainment of the goals and objectives of the school.
