IMPACT OF ICT IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF LANGUAGE IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN AGUATA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract


This study was intended to examine the impact of ICT in the teaching and learning of Language. This study was guided by the following objectives; to examine the Availability of ICT facilities for the teaching and learning of language, Extent to which the available ICT facilities are utilized in the teaching and learning of language, Impact of ICT in teaching and learning of language in Senior, Constraints to effective utilization of ICT facilities by the language teachers in the teaching and learning of language, Strategies to ameliorate the constraints to effective utilization of ICT facilities in the teaching and learning of language. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using mean standard deviation tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 20 students selected from one senior secondary schools in Enugu State. The study findings revealed that there is a relationship between the introduction of ICT in teaching Language and students’ interest in Language class; based on the findings from the study, schools should implement the use of ICT facilities such as computer, projector, video etc in teaching Language in secondary schools in order to ensure proper understanding and interest in Language.
