DIFFICULTY PHASES IN THE PRODUCTION OF AUDIO-TUTORIAL INSTRUCTIONAL PACKAGE AS PERCEIVED BY STUDENT TEACHERS IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY DUTSIN-MA, KATSINA STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
This study verified and proved the difficult phases in the production of audio-tutorial instructional package as perceived by student teachers in Federal University Dutsin-Ma Katsina State, Nigeria. The target population was all the eighty-eight (88) student teachers at the 2021/2022 Long Vacation Training (LVT) education programme in the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. All these eighty-eight (88) student-teachers that are in contact four who registered for Educational Technology course and were taught both practical and theory in the production of audio-tutorial instructional package were purposively chosen for the study. The validation of the instrument was done by two lecturers in the Faculty of Education in the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State. The instrument was pilot-tested using 20 students who are not part of the main study. The instrument reliability was established by using Cronbach Alpha and the value obtained was0.71. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentages as well as inferential statistics of t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The findings of the study revealed that the difficult phase in the production of audio-tutorial instructional package is the development phase. There is significant difference in the opinion of male and female and as well as the opinion of in-service, pre-service and starter teachers in the difficult phase of audio –tutorial instructional package. Based on these findings, it was recommended that Lecturers handling Educational Technology course should emphasis more on development phase while teaching students on production of instructional media in education.
